Grains continued to find support as disruptions to shipping in the Black Sea refuse to go away. Reuters report 97% of Russian and Ukrainian grain export capacity is currently offline, leaving only a small facility in Tuapse with capacity of about 160,000 tons per month still running. Consequently, Ukraine’s agricultural exports dropped to 794,000 mts between August 1 and 15 compared to 3.67 mmts during the month of July, according to farm minister Taras Vysotskyi.

Meanwhile, Russia’s grain harvest is proceeding well and is nearing 100 million metric tons, according to agriculture Minister Oksana Lut. Volumes are reportedly exceeding last year’s figure, when Russia harvested about 141 mmts of grain.

Jordan’s state grain buyer passed on an international tender for 120,000 mmts of feed barley that closed on Wednesday. This is now expected to be re-tendered next week.

US markets were also firmer across the board as crude posted 1.5% gains. The ProFarmer crop tour leaned friendly for corn and soybeans, with corn yields in Indiana and Nebraska estimated below the 3-year average, as were pod counts for soybeans.
